So you've taken a look at the website, become familiar with our aircraft and our organization and think you'd like to join us--but how?
That part is easy!
There are three basic steps to be taken and a few common sense requirements to be met. When they are fulfilled, we will welcome you to the organization.
Step One - You need to:
> Print and complete a confidential membership application using this link. Membership Application.PDF
> Mail the completed application to the Gastonia Aero Club at the address on the top of the application form.
Step Two -- the GAC leadership needs to:
> Contact you to get acquainted and answer any questions that you may have.
> Arrange to review your application and complete the appropriate background checks.
> Tell you about membership share availability and current pricing.
> Prepare to submit you to the club membership as a member candidate.
Step Three - You need to:
> Agree upon a purchase price. (You will find it to be very reasonable.)
> Attend a monthly membership meeting so that the membership can get to know you and hear about your flying experience. (First Tuesday of every month, with picnic fare served at 6pm and the meeting at 7pm.)
> Be voted in as a member. (Assuming all checks out well.)
> Complete necessary club aircraft flight reviews with a club-approved instructor.
> Get your club keys and GO FLY!!
Oh yeah...the "common sense requirements" part…You need to:
> Have a clean flying record (i.e., minimal to no violations.)
> Hold at least a third class medical certificate. (Students are welcome.)
> Have no felony convictions in the past ten years.
> Be a responsible person of "good moral character".
